The ranch shares a unique connection to the historic Gotier Trail, a significant pioneer route in early Texas. Built in the early 1830s by James Gotier under the authority of the ayuntamiento of San Felipe, this trail linked San Felipe on the Brazos River to the Colorado River crossing at Bastrop, passing near the property’s current location. The trail served as a vital pathway for settlers and immigrants, including notable figures like Davy Crockett and his Tennessee Volunteers, who stayed with the Gotier family on their journey to the Alamo. Despite its significance, the trail's history is marked by tragedy, including a Comanche attack in 1837 that claimed the lives of most of the Gotier family. Today, the ranch stands as a quiet witness to this storied past, offering visitors the chance to walk in the footsteps of Texas pioneers while exploring its scenic and historic grounds.
